![]() Roof failures can be very stressful. Dripping water leads to mold growth, but too many issues can also lead to structural problems. That’s why finding a roofing company that offers 24 hour service to allow for emergency repairs can be one of the biggest assets any homeowner or business owner has because everyone needs somebody to count on. The most common form of emergency roof repair is storm damage, but other factors can lead to issues as well. While emergency repairs might not be the perfect answer, a temporary fix can hold until weather and time permits a permanent solution. Emergency repairs are generally unplanned but also effective in often protecting against further damage. Sometimes unusual methods will be used by an experienced roofer to solve the problem temporarily. Tarps and other fixes can be installed to prevent further damage; however, if time and weather permits, use of a stopgap measure can be completely avoided. The solution is really up to the person or company performing the repair and what the repair is. In the end, emergency roof repairs and the need for a 24 hour emergency roofing contractor are part of a homeowners good preparation plan. Homeowners that make plans in case of emergencies have an easier time dealing with the situation. Yes things will still be stressful if you have a roof emergency, but at least it is nice to know that expert help is only a phone call away. At Class Eh! Roofing we believe 24 emergency roof service is part of our job. Please contact us for all your roofing needs. PHONE: 289-687-6924 EMAIL: classehroofing@gmail.com

![]() It is pretty hot out there these days so I thought I would talk a little bit about the colour of roof shingles you choose for your home, especially in this heat wave weather. Did you know the colour of the shingles you choose for your build can have a BIG impact on the building’s energy efficiency? The colour of shingles can have significant effect on the temperature of the upper levels of the building in particular. Attic temperatures can vary widely depending on colour choices and this in turn can reduce or increase energy consumption greatly depending on the time of year. Studies have shown that wood roofing panels under black shingles were ten to fifteen degrees warmer than the same panels under white shingles on a sunny day. However, during the evening, the black-shingled roofs also tended to lose heat faster than did the white-shingled roofs. In the evening, both black-shingled and white-shingled roofs generally experience similar nighttime temperature profiles. So, to put it simply, shingle colour (which dictates how much radiation/heat it will absorb and retain) is the main factor in dictating temperatures. In warmer climates, lighter colours will reduce heat absorption from the sun while cooler climates will want black shingles that help to melt winter snow. You can compromise the shingle colour to better suit home design by selecting shingles with flex of white or grey. Consider blends like grays to get the most out of your shingles all year round. Roofing is a long-term commitment that must balance good looks with good energy efficiency. Be sure to consider all the factors when choosing the right shingle shade for your roofing project. If you need help choosing a colour for your roofing project, please do not hesitate to give us a call at Class Eh! Roofing. The Installation of Your Roof will be Top Notch Any decent roofer will tell you, it’s not the roofing materials that will let you down, it likely will be the quality of the install. When someone installs a roof that is not highly experienced, the result is always predictable. The roof does not last and the money initially saved in the project will eventually go down the drain. By working with a CertainTeed Select Shingle Master™ you can be assured that they have the proper skills and education to install every roof to the highest standards. Roofing Accessories Roof installation is about so much more than just shingles. Flashing, gutters and ventilation are just a few of the things that are crucial for a roofer to be well versed on for a great finished product. A CertainTeed Select Shingle Master™ contractor is educated around all the nuances of roofing so you can rest easy. Warranties are Important Homeowners have the benefit of better warranty coverage when they hire a CertainTeed Select Shingle Master™ contractor. Could I save some cash if I buy my own supplies? Or even, hmmm…can I do some roof work myself?
OK I get that saving money is a great thing, but your roof protects your home and is an investment so this week I hope to help you make smart choices when dealing with it. Here are some important things to consider I believe in the pursuit of saving money : 1.Buying your own materials Shopping around for the best deal is a good thing, but when it comes to having a roof system installed, you need someone qualified to order the RIGHT materials at a COMPETITIVE price. In this way not only do you minimize having incorrect quantities or products, the contractor may also have access to better, more competitive pricing due to established relationships with regular suppliers. A roof installation tends to be a package deal and a good contractor will be able to provide a workmanship and manufacturer’s warranty with your system. This is peace of mind. 2.Starting a major roof repair or replacement by yourself OK unless you have lots of experience, roofing is dangerous and difficult work. Do you know we sometimes get calls from homeowners who start the task and then call us part way through because they realize they are in over their heads? In my opinion, a good roofer is money well spent. They have the proper safety equipment, knowledge and skill level that are worth it. 3.Installing a product that does more damage than good over time Not all products are good products for your roof and a pro can help you figure out what you really need for your situation. Here is a good example: Flush mounted skylights. They typically don’t have a very wide flange and therefore tend to be unable to support high volumes of water. Under heavy rain, water can go beyond the flange and penetrate beneath the roof, resulting in leaks. Rely on a qualified contractor to help you decide what products will perform best for your roof. 4.Not hiring a solid contractor Make sure that you do your homework and check around for roofers by asking friends, family and co-workers about their experiences. Check the Better Business Bureau, online reviews, and see if there is a company website for a feel and feedback on the contractor’s work history. You want a company with a great finished product and remember cost is not the #1 factor necessarily in the right choice. I have been serving the Niagara Region with my Class Eh!
