​Flashing is an important part of any roofing system that helps to protect your home by redirecting the flow of water around potential openings. It is quite literally your roof’s last line of defense from moisture and we will focus on what it is and how it works today because many people ask about it!

• The most common is sheet metal and copper as they as they are the most durable and compatible with the newer types of wood treatments. 
• Aluminum an easy to form, durable and inexpensive material. However, you run the risk of corrosion if it comes in contact with alkaline materials like concrete or fiber-cement siding.
• Lead which is very pliable and soft but carries many health risks.
• Plastic flashing which is inexpensive, but if exposed, wears down quickly.
• Galvanized steel which come with baked enamel paint finish and with many color options.
