There's a good chance they will need your driveway space as a collection spot for all the materials as well.
 
Clear out your yard
Not only do you want to make sure that nothing is in the way of the contractors that will be moving around your property, but you'll want to make sure that nothing can be damaged by any roofing materials. This means that you should move your gardening equipment, your patio furniture, your barbecue grill, your potted plants and anything else that might be kept outside indoors.
 
Clear out your attic
Dust and debris are likely to fall into the attic from the roof as it's being worked on, so remove everything stored in your attic to keep them from getting dirty or damaged.
 
Wall Art
Odds are you have a few items hanging from your walls, whether it's paintings, photographs or mirrors. If you want to be totally on the safe side, you may want to take these down. The work being done to your roof can result in vibrations to the house, which could cause items hanging from your walls to fall down.

Installing a new roof is going to cause a lot of noise so with that in mind it may be a good idea to tell your neighbours so that they have a chance to make plans to leave their house if they know that the noise will bother them.
 
Pets
If you have any pets, you may want to plan to have them out of the house on the days of the roof installation. Pets can be very sensitive to noise, and the sounds of the contractors working outside may end up driving them nuts.

Kids
If you have children, remember a roof installation will require some amount of equipment and materials lying around. To play it safe make sure to supervise kids or inform older children to be careful until the installation and cleanup are completed by the roofing contractors.

Winters, even mild ones like the one we have had in niagara can be tough on your roof, especially if it’s an older roof.

A good roof inspection in the spring will show you the warning signs of damage that might need attention before they become problems. Here’s what look for:
 
1. Roofing Shingles
While getting up on a ladder for a closer look is best, you can also use a pair of binoculars to inspect the roof’s shingles. Look for signs of wear on the shingles which will show up as bare areas where the protective gravel coating has been scraped off by things like debris, wind and snow.
 
Also look for any raised edges. These can be caused by water getting under the shingle, freezing and lifting the shingle when it does.
 
2. Eavestroughs
Especially if you have older trees around your home, your eavestroughs have been collecting things throughout the winter. Without being cleared, the debris can hold water which can back up and get in under the edges of your roof.
 
3. Flashing
Flashing is used to stop water from getting in between them and the roof. The melting and freezing of snow and ice can pull the flashing away from the roof and if that happens, moisture may be able to get under the flashing and into your home.
 
Professional Roof Inspections are a good idea as the spring season moves in. While you can do a roof inspection yourself, if you have a multi-level home or a particularly large roof, it may be difficult to properly inspect the entire roof.
