How to Make Sure You Get the Best Roof For Your Money

So if you are in the market for roofing services, you may ask yourself…what should I look for to make sure I get a quality roof installation or repair?

It’s a great question because there are many types of roofing and several manufacturers of them out there, but there are even more roofing companies out there that do the actual installations.  So good product is important but it can't be emphazised enough how important good product knowledge and service is that really gets the job done right.

Here is a sample of how important good installations are.  Did you know, regardless of the product used if a shingle roof is installed just “good enough” it can last for 10 years, but if it is done  “extremely well” it could last over 20 years and even more?  I’m not kidding.

So how can you find the long term roof team?  Well, usually years in the business is one thing, but they also have to know about the manufacturers installation requirements to make warranties count because down the road a manufacturer in most cases is not responsible for the quality of the installation and they won’t stand behind it if it's installed incorrectly.

Shingles are tested and there are guidelines about putting the proper number of nails in the right places, using the right types of nails and so much more.  Great roofers know their stuff in this department and you don’t want to be stuck with no warranty left after a few years because your roof wasn’t installed properly!

So overall, here are a few points that I think you should consider when looking for a solid roofing company to do your job.  They should be:

-Licensed and insured
-Certified by the manufacturer
-Been in business for a good length of time
-Have good equipment   
-Able to give you references
-Not obviously financially challenged, in the sense that they may not be able to finish the job or honor the labor warranty down the road
-Have easy to contact access by phone and email
-Be able to communicate well with you. Answer your questions and give you options.
